It’s rare that we do a reissue here at Filthy, so when we do, you know it’s something special. With original art by Nick Genesio (recaptured from the original canvas just for this release) and two limited edition colorways (Splatter and Red Cloud) each with a matched obi strip, the Rhythmic Scripture EP makes an impression before the needle even hits the wax. 

Produced by BZA with raps by Estee Nack, the Rhythmic Scripture EP opens with “111,” a slow-burn tension builder punctuated with tense Rhodes flourishes that compliment Nacksaw’s intense flow - no sing-along club hook, just rapid-fire lyricism that doesn’t let up. In “222”, a droning horn loop builds on the suspense while a relentless beat with reverb-soaked snare keeps time. Nack’s verse is another packed rhyme brick, flexing more technique and intensity in one track than other emcees can manage in a whole album. “333” keeps the tension rolling with a dark layered boom-bap beat from BZA laced with an effortless street bulletin like only Nack can do. And since it just wouldn’t be Filthy without that something extra, we’ve also included the unreleased track “444”. On 444, BZA continues the dark sound that pervades Rhythmic Scripture with ringing Rhodes dissonance spilling over droning strings, powered by a beat studded with subtle ghost notes and Nack matching the energy with a verse that hits like a documentary. Cut at 45RPM on a 12”, the vinyl plays loud and clean and the B side includes all the instrumentals for the DJs.
